Easter Getaway

With the festivities of Christmas now behind us, the countdown has started for the next holiday in the calendar - Easter. For those who do not wish to escape the chill of winter, the Easter break provides the ideal opportunity to ski or snowboard.

France still retains a huge and accessible allure for UK skiers. If the party life is as important as the piste then Val d'Isère is an old time favourite. The neighbouring resort of Tignes is certainly lighter on the wallet and with a glacier overlooking the village, it will guarantee skiing well into the Easter break. If you prefer your Buon Giornos to Bonjours, skiing in the Dolomites of Italy is an equally attractive option, with the snow reports already good and equally promising for March.
Switzerland and Austria offer their own authentic touch of charm. Stubai is the largest ski region in the Innsbruck area and is a great all year round destination due to the glacier. Mont Tremblant in Canada has an impressive selection of pistes for all levels of expertise with over half aimed at the advanced skiier. If you needed any more reason to go, the resort has a french feel to it which adds a certain style. The USA has no shortage of ski resorts, Killmington on the east coast almost guarantees snow during your stay as they have the world's most extensive snow making system.

Further afield, the monstrous slopes of the Whistler Blackcombe range in British Columbia, Canada have witnessed an impressive snow dump comparable to that of the successful 2007 season. With the preparations well underway for the 2010 Winter Olympics, you can take advantage of the many activities off piste; husky sledging and zip lining through the forests and gorges to name but a few. Whilst the destination is more pricey, the proximity to nature is an unforgettable experience. Whatever your choice there is lots on offer for the first timer and veteran snow lover alike.
