| Recommended vaccinations: Hep A, Typhoid and carry proof of Yellow Fever if travelling from an country where Yellow Fever is present. HIV/AIDS is prevalent. Take preventative measures to reduce the chance of being bitten by a mosquito as Dengue Fever exists. Ensure your travel insurance covers evacuation by air ambulance. |

| The climate is tropical with temperatures fluctuating little. Hurricanes are experienced between June to November. The best time to visit to avoid the rain is from December to April. |

| The pace of life on both islands is very slow. Beachwear is not acceptable in the towns or villages. Do not wear camouflage clothing. Photocopy your travel documents and keep them somewhere safe. |
| Getting Around |
| The roads are well maintained but driving standards can be poor and pedestrians walk on the roads as there are few pavements. Taxis and car hire are popular ways to travel. A local driving permit can be obtained form the hire company. Buses are unreliable. Small planes and ferries provide links to other islands and between Antigua and Barbuda. |

| New Year on January 1, Carnival the week before Lent in February, Labour Day on1 May, Caricom Day on 7 July, Carnival on 4 & 5 August and Heroes Day on 9 December. National Day is on 1 November. Christian holidays for 2010 include: Lent which commences on 17 February, Easter from 2-5 April, Ascension Day on 16 May, Whitsun (Pentecost) on 23 May, Corpus Christi on 6 June, Assumption on 15 August and Christmas Day on 25 December. Events to look out include the Jazz festival in October and the sailing week in April. Barbuda celebrates Caribara in June. |
