| The Bahamas are mostly flat, sub-tropical islands and are the closest of the Caribbean islands to the Florida coast. The temperature fluctuates little throughout the year but it is a slightly cooler than some of the other Caribbean islands. Expect rain all year, particularly between May to October. Hurricanes are experienced between June to November. |

| Getting Around |
| Charter flights and boats link the islands. Travel by bus, taxi, bicycle or hire car is easy enough. Watersports operators are often unregulated. |

| New Year on 1 January, Labour Day on 1 May, National Day on 10 July, Emancipation on 4 August and Heroes Day on 12 October. Christian holidays for 2010 include: Lent which commences on 17 February, Easter from 2-5 April, Ascension Day on 16 May, Whitsun (Pentecost) on 23 May, Corpus Christi on 6 June, Assumption on 15 August and Christmas Day on 25 December. Expect to see a Carnival on New Year's Day on 1 January and also on Boxing Day on 26 December. |
