| Drunk and disorderly behaviour is treated more seriously than in the UK. Carry a photocopy of your passport at all times. Regulations for the importation of currency are strict, you must declare if you bring more than 8000 Leva into the country. If planning to purchase property be aware of the laws surrounding land ownership by foreign nationals. |
| Getting Around |
| Air travel is relatively cheap and it is easy to get from the Black Sea resorts to Sophia. Roads are generally in a poor condition and buses are the best way to travel between towns. Hire cars are available and can be booked through some hotels. Taxis are plentiful and many towns along the Danube are linked by regular boat services. |

| New Year on 1 January and an additional holiday on 2 January, Orthodox Christmas on 7 January, Liberation Day on 3 March, Easter falls between 2-5 April 10, Labour Day on 1 May, St Georges Day on 6 May, Unification Day on 6 September, Independence Day on 22 September, National Revival Day on 1 November and Christmas is celebrated from 24-26 December. Muslim holidays for 2010 include: the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday on 3 March (not celebrated by all), Ramadam which commences from sunset on 11 August and culminates with Eid al-Fitr on 10 September, the Feast of the Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha on 17 November and Ashura on 16 December. |
