Travel Advice/Warnings
This is a very unsafe country and all travel should be taken with care. There are high incidents of kidnapping and serious crime. Check with the FCO website before you travel for the most up do date information. Many areas are subject to guerrilla warfare due to drug smuggling and cocaine production. Be aware of bogus police officers, avoid handing over any documentation or cash and insist on going to the nearest police station.
Vaccinations & Health Alerts
It is recommended that you vaccinate against Hep A and Typhoid. Malaria and Dengue Fever are present in some regions. Yellow Fever vaccination certificates are only needed if you are planning to visit jungle areas. Take precautions to reduce the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes.

Warm and tropical on the coast and in the north. The temperature gets cooler with altitude. The rainy season runs from May to November.

Local Customs/Laws
Do not photograph military or government buildings or establishments. Avoid anything connected with drugs. Homosexuality is not widely accepted.
Getting Around
This is not an easy country to get around due to the threat of car jacking and illegal road blocks. Driving in not generally recommended. Air travel is the best way to get around as the rail network is limited.

This is a country which really enjoys to party and there are plenty of festivals held throughout the year.
