If not staying at a Hotel or Guest house you should register with the Police within 24 hours of arriving. Do not consume any alcohol if driving. Carry your passport at all times.
Getting Around
Internal air travel is possible but services are limited. Road and rail links vary and journeys can take some time. Regular ferry services operate between Split, the Islands off the coast and Dubrovnik in the summer.
Public Holidays/Festivals
This is a devoutly catholic country and the holidays reflect this. Carnival in February before Shrove Tuesday (16 February) is one of the biggest celebrations. Also Easter which falls between 2-5 April 10, Labour Day on 1 May, Whit Monday on 24 May, Corpus Christi on 6 June, St John's Day on 24 June, St Martin's Day on 11 November and Christmas Day on 25 December. New Year's Day is also celebrated on 1 January.
