Getting Around
Internal flights are the most reliable mode of transport. Roads are limited to the eastern side and journeys will be slow as ferries have to be taken across rivers. Use scheduled ferry services. Taxis are the safest way to travel. Minibuses should be avoided due to their poor safety record. Flash floods are common during the heavy rains. Be aware the borders with Suriname and Venezuela are in dispute. No rail services are available.
