Travel Advice on Health, Climate, Local Info, Customs and Laws

| Due to the current situation, the FCO are currently advising against all but essential travel. Military personnel are present on the streets and a temporary curfew is in place with timings changing on a regular basis. Demonstrations are likely, and may lead to sporadic roadblocks. Avoid large gatherings and protests and be aware of the local situation by monitoring the media and the FCO travel advice. All forms of transport are affected, especially the airports. Generally, Honduras has widespread petty and violent crime including muggings, car jacking and sexual assaults. Take precautions to safeguard your personal safety and that of your valuables. Do not travel at night. |

| HIV/AIDS is prevalent in the north. Malaria exists in the low lying parts of the country. You are strongly advised to take out adequate medical cover on your travel insurance.It is recommended that you vaccinate against Hep A, Polio, Typhoid and carry proof of Yellow Fever if travelling from an infected country. Malaria is present. |

| ID must be carried at all times. Restrict the wearing of beachwear for the beach and the pool only. |
| Getting Around |
| Internal flights are possible between major towns, rail is limited and mainly used as transport between plantations. Roads are of variable quality and deteriorate in the rainy season. Bus travel should be avoided as they are poorly maintained and have been the target of criminals. Hire cars are available but you should avoid travelling at night. |

| Visa Requirements |
| Honduras is part of the Central America Border Control Agreement (CA-4). Under the terms of this agreement, British tourists may travel within any of the CA-4 countries (Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala) for a period of up to 90 days, without completing entry and exit formalities at Border Immigration checkpoints. This period begins at the first point of entry into any of the CA-4 countries. Fines are applied for travellers who exceed this 90 day limit, although you may apply for an extension of up to 30 days before the 90 days limit expires. You must have 6 months validity remaining on your passport and an onward ticket. |
