| The climate is tropical and affected by the trade winds. It is hot and humid generally. The capital receives a lot of rain throughout the year. There are 2 dry seasons one from February to April and the other from August to September. |

| Getting Around |
| This is not an easy country to get around. Roads and flights are limited and affected by the substantial rain. The border area with Guyana is in dispute. There are no railways. |
| Public Holidays/Festivals |
| Christian, Hindu and Muslim Festivals are observed. Muslim holidays for 2010 include: the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday on 3 March (not celebrated by all), Ramadam which commences from sunset on 11 August and culminates with Eid al-Fitr on 10 September, the Feast of the Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha on 17 November, Al-Hijira on 18 December and Ashura on 16December. The main Hindu holidays for 2010 include: Holi on 28 February, Dussera on 17 October and Diwali on 5 November. The main Christian holidays for 2010 include: Lent which commences on 17 February, Easter from 2-5 April and Christmas Day on 25 December. Fixed holidays include: Labour Day on 1 May, the Abolition of Slavery (Keti Koti) on 1 July, Independence Day on 25 November, Christmas on 25 & 26 December. |
